How the planets aligned

As you will soon discover as you look through this site, I have found not only a love for the physical benefits of running, but on a much deeper level, something very healing and cathartic too.
I have gone through much of my life without a sense of belonging, struggling to truly express myself and find places where I can lose the scripts altogether and just be me.
When I run, nothing else matters, I am truly free.
Why The London Marathon?: About
"4 REASONS WHY"
It was meant to be!

Ok, this one speaks for itself. 26.2 miles (42 km) is a LOOOOONG way to run, so passion is key! I think the feeling is mutual though and running loves me too as I feel healthier than ever before, in body and soul.
This will be an enormous challenge for me, there will literally be thousands of people and I will definitely need to work out some strategies to get me through the first bit. Music will help and I do not have to socialise. Being on the spectrum has its advantages too. Quite often, hyper focusing on my special interests can bring about some challenges as I struggle to switch my attention, but in this case, I think it will come in handy as I retreat to "The Zone" to get me through the hours! - I AM SO DETERMINED TO DO THIS!

The London Marathon 2020 falls on the 26th April, EXACTLY 1 year since I started running! How uncanny is that? Tell me this wasn't written in the stars.

In May 2020, I turn 40 and wait for it... SO DOES THE LONDON MARATHON marking its 40th anniversary!!
Being "different" has meant many years of uncelebrated birthdays. What a momentous way to mark the occasion, with 40,000+ other people who all share a common goal, setting out to RUN, CHALLENGE, RAISE MONEY AND AWARENESS and best of all, ACHIEVE!
Happy 40th birthday to me and The London Marathon!
The best reason of all, raising much needed funds for this lifeline of a charity - I have pledged to raise £1800, so need all the help I can get!
Autistic people can be extremely vulnerable to anxiety and depression as a result of many factors including problems with communication skills, rigidity, sensory overload, isolation, feeling misunderstood, subject to prejudice and being unable to integrate effectively into society.
Without services like these, many people would continue in their struggle to exist, let alone be accepted and treated with the equality, compassion and dignity every person deserves.
Every single penny raised is going to a worthwhile cause, providing such valuable resources including, support, assessment, respite, outreach, education, residential care and therapy.
Autism services were there when I needed them most, helping me to see that I was not alone and offering me an opportunity to better understand myself and accept and embrace my neurodiversity.
Please do donate anything you can to help me reach that £1800 target, you can hit the DONATE button below to go straight to my JUST GIVING page!
Thank you x
