January highlights
Well I certainly started the year exactly as I meant to go on, recovering from all that dreadful December illness, taking on new challenges, broadening my experiences and pushing ever closer to my goals. A family emergency saw me having to make an unexpected journey back to my home island, with the gravity and impact of the situation further changing my outlook and driving me with more determination than ever, towards my own thresholds and beyond. So in spite of much sadness and uncertainty, January was a month of self reflection and achievement.

1st January 2020:
"Yes TEAM JACKSON! 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️ First run of the year and my babies ran 4 miles with me at a very respectable 9:05/mi pace!!🏅🏅🏅 Well done girlies, you were fabulous, I’m so looking forward to my first club run of the year now as I’m sure I need to be somewhere in April!!"
So proud of my amazing girls, they give so much to their chosen pathway of dance and regularly cross train with gym and running. It was nice to share the first run of the year with such committed and enthusiastic young people.
"SMASHED my 2nd Park Run!"
4th January 2020:
💥 289 runners
🌟7th PLACE FEMALE
🥇1st PLACE IN AGE CATEGORY!
“I’m so proud of myself as I was so bloomin’ ill with flu and my chest has been a total nightmare... Onward and upwards, I can so do this! 😊👊🏻💥“

By the end of the first week of January, I was back at club after the Xmas break and donning my Autism East Midlands vest and getting those
miles under my belt!

10th January 2020:
"Back to The Rock"

So like I mentioned, unfortunately a family emergency saw me having to take a last minute flight back to my island home for a few days. This was all very upsetting and difficult to deal with, but there really was no other way. My sister means everything to me and although I had no power to change anything, just being physically closer to her, to spend time together was the next best thing I could offer. Thankfully, I had the most incredible support my end, from sorting my flights to keeping my spirits up, it all helped to keep my anxiety just that little bit lower. My travel plans were like a military operation(!), but I got there in the end!
"Running the cliffs"
Guernsey is far too stunning to have not enjoyed a good 10 miles of seafront and cliffs. Such a breathtaking view, with my beautiful sea and rocks providing the backdrop and soundtrack; just what I needed to clear my mind.
Back on track - literally!
After some quality time spent back home, I was soon back on mainland turf and ready to take on my next challenge.

14th January 2020:
"First club track night - wow, gruelling but awesome speed session, I loved it. I’m SO proud of myself for rising to new challenges and working hard to improve!"
This was a whole new game, pushing me to new limits, but I just know that long term this will help my performance enormously. As hard as it was, I think I did pretty good and will definitely be returning for some more!
The rest of January saw me generally throwing myself into training, keeping focussed and positive whilst I awaited more news from back home. Hard work, but worth it!

The weather was still very cold, turning very icy at one point!! Track night was certainly interesting, but I made it through and the sense of achievement was even greater - Let's see what February brings!
